No doubt everyone who has suffered the devastation of cancer, feels the pain and heartache it causes. If you know this feeling, then you know that messages of hope, strength, and encouragement (no matter how small) are appreciated wherever they can be found. 

The image of the phoenix is universally known as one such symbol. It is a reminder of our resiliency; our strength to rise and carry on. 

There are variations to the story of the phoenix, but in all versions, the phoenix is set aflame, seemingly destroyed. Yet, from its ashes, it rises anew. It must first burn, in order to be reborn. In modern use, the phoenix symbolizes hope, resilience, and strength to overcome adversity. Rising up out of destruction, transformed, and stronger because of it. 

The spiral configuration of the phoenix further represents growth; the journey of life. The message to "Rise" is always pointing in an upward direction. A continuous reminder to keep looking up.
